I am often disappointed when books do not live up to the rave reviews I read about them, but this book was even better! It gets to compared to Red Queen and Graceling which are two books that I happen to love so I went in with high expectations. I had a hard time loving the main character as first but quickly found myself relating and rooting for Lada, a displaced princess with a streak for wickedness. When an unlikely friendship with the heir to the kingdom in which she is held prisoner sparks, hope is sparked that both she and her brother may have a way out. If you like a good adventure try out this dark and twisted story set in the Ottoman empire.
