Characters: 8/10 Plot: 8/10 Writing: 7/10 I listened to this on audiobook, which worked quite well. I enjoyed the narration (even the cheesy Russian and British accents, which helped set the tone), and it moved quickly. I instinctively rear away from love triangles, and I could feel this one coming very early on. I'm grateful that she chose between the two of them fairly quickly and didn't waver on her decision, even if she still held attraction for the un-chosen. I really loved the Russia portion of the book. Compared to the time in the other dimensions, it may have been a bit long, but I really enjoyed the character and relationship development that happened in that time. I loved the Anastasia vibe; very romantic and beautiful. The writing style had a lot of "telling" instead of showing--particularly in explaining Marguerite's thought process directly. Because it's first-person and YA, this is certainly forgivable and added to the character development, but at times probably could have been trimmed down. The book ends on a very resolved, satisfying note, but I'm still interested to see what the sequels bring.
