“Migra Mouse” is a collection of political cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz’s earlier works, from his experiences as a student at San Diego State University in the 1980s to immigration issues in California during the 1990s. The title is based on the Walt Disney Company’s support for California gubernatorial candidate Pete Wilson’s re-election campaign and its strong anti-immigration stance. In 2013, when Disney tried to trademark the Mexican Day of the Dead Holiday, Alacaraz created Muerto Mouse. Historically a strong critic of the Disney Corp., Alcaraz, a self-proclaimed cultural watchdog, is now a consultant for the upcoming Pixar film “Coco”, about Dia de los Muertos.
