Though we may not see one until 2020 or after, the Treasury Department has named Harriet Tubman as the new face of the new U.S. $20 bill.
Harriet Tubman was born into slavery. After her escape, she became a conductor on the Underground Railroad, helping slaves escape to freedom.
During the Civil War Tubman was active in the Union cause, serving as a nurse, a cook and a scout. After the war she supported the cause of women's right to vote.
She died in 1913 and was buried with military honors.
