Kids and the Justice System
Over 16,000 Arizona children and teens were referred to the juvenile justice system in 2024. 2,058 of those kids were in Pima County; of those, 192 youth spent time at the Juvenile Detention Center where PCPL operates a library program. Children not directly in the system may have parents who are incarcerated. Read on to learn more about current and historical perspectives on this issue.
