It's Time for the Tucson International Mariachi Conference!

It's that time of year! The Tucson International Mariachi Conference is taking place from April 23rd to April 26th. Mariachi groups come to Tucson from all over to practice, perform, and compete, and there are workshops and performances from Ballet Folklorico groups as well. The conference is an integral part of Tucson history and culture. As the festival's website states, "since 1982, the Tucson International Mariachi Conference has been a leading force in supporting the development of Mariachi and Ballet Folklorico instruction in schools across the United States. Our long-standing history of fostering Mexican American culture has significantly increased pride, success, craftsmanship, and discipline and encouraged youth to engage in education." You can find out more information about the conference from its website, linked at the end of the list. Enjoy these mariachi-themed books and documentaries in honor of the Tucson International Mariachi Conference! The books at the beginning of the list are for kids, and they transition into books for teens and adults. The documentaries are at the end of the list.
