Right to Repair

Right to repair is, put simply, the right to fix the things you buy, or the right to take things to an independent repair shop. Recently, John Deere settled with the Federal Trade Commission, securing farmers' right to repair John Deere farming equipment over the next ten years. According to iFixit, the right to repair is a global movement with three goals: 1) have parts and tools needed to fix stuff, 2) have access to the same manuals and diagnostic tools that manufacturers use, and 3) have access to software to reset security locks and pair new electronic parts. Learn more from the links below. The books on this list explore the topics of fixing things, circular economics, and deep dives into the equipment that keeps our daily lifestyles running. If you're interested in repair and mending clothes, there's another list for that! It's linked below, too.
