Right on the mark. A great example of a classic mystery: great story, interesting characters, puzzling murders, a few clues sprinkled throughout. I really enjoyed the book.

Excellent premise, good suspense and action writing, but somewhat tedious when characters are running around in the underground complex, looking for the bad guys.

It has been a while since I read one of this author's books. I really enjoyed her early books about Joanna Brady. I wasn't sure if I liked this one. When I finished it and then read how Jance weaved threads from her life and Native American culture--and used masterful storytelling to expertly combine everything, I decided I was quite impressed. It has been a while since I read one of this author's books. Although I am a big fan of Joe Kenda, I did not like this book as much as his previous two. It is not easy to try and blend fiction and nonfiction. Sometimes it gets very confusing. Kenda is at his best when he is talking about one of his cases and how it unfolded. If you haven't read his first book I WILL FIND YOU, I strongly recommend you do.Although I am a big fan of Joe Kenda, I did not like this book as much as his previous two. I enjoyed the Hitchcockian suspense throughout the story—it was extremely well done. The ending was a true revelation, one which I did not expect. I will definitely seek out more books by this author.

Not one of Baldacci's better books. And I do like many of his other books, especially the Will Robie series. Too muddled, too tiresome, repeating info over and over again, hoping it will make sense. But in the end, all you end up with is a very complicated plot and a deflated feeling. Not one of Baldacci's better books. And I do like many of his other books, especially the Will Robie series. It was a familiar plot. From the title and plot summary, I knew the book would end as it did. The writing was pedestrian at best. I am glad that a new writer was able to break into print. Maybe her next book will be a bit better.

I thought it was okay, just okay. I loved King's "Joyland." I actually read it twice; I thought this book would be similar. If you don't like this book, try "Joyland." It is much better.

I can see how some readers would like this kind of a book, but it isn't a traditional suspense or mystery. It's more of a meticulously researched book about a period in time, with kissy-face, huggy-bear type of details that I found tedious. I prefer the more traditional genre book.I can see how some readers would like this kind of a book, but it isn't a traditional suspense or mystery. Not as good as I had anticipated. At times it read like a young adult novel. The "warrior girl" label got old real fast. Perhaps this author's future books will show more maturity and complexity of plot lines.

Lawrence Block is one of my favorite writers. He wrote a fiction column for Writer's Digest magazine for many years and has published some very good books. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. I have enjoyed the Scudder series; however, this one tends to focus more on the sexuality of the two main characters. This is fine for character development. But at this point, we don't need any further development of the Scudder character. I'm going to re-read some of the earlier books.Lawrence Block is one of my favorite writers. I suppose if I were born in the 80s or 90s and not earlier, I would have said, "Wow." But instead I was shouting "Why!?" While watching the episode where William Shatner spots a gremlin on the wing of a plane, I kept waiting to see the gremlin appear. No such luck.
Don't get me wrong. I think the scripts were good and the actors even better, but it just wasn't the "Twilight Zone" I cherished as a child.
Maybe I'm just old. Some things are best experienced in one's childhood and don't shine like they used to when viewed in the harsh daylight of today's world.I suppose if I were born in the 80s or 90s and not earlier, I would have said, "Wow." I read the other book first The Girl I Used to Be, which was good. I found the premise intriguing in this book. It did keep me reading at a fast clip all the way through. I'm not certain the ending was as shocking or satisfying as some reviewers claimed. You can decide for yourself. I won't ruin the story by telling you how it ends.I read the other book first The Girl I Used to Be, which was good. I found the premise intriguing in this book. A well written story, brilliantly acted and directed. It was sad in the end, but it is definitely worth your time. Some folks said it was slow...well, sometimes it takes time to develop a story that reveals layers of details. Not all movies can move at breakneck speed. A top-notch series. I really enjoyed the two main characters in this series. The only thing that would be better is if Morse were still alive.
Alas, he is gone, as well as the actor who played him wonderfully in the Morse series.

An excellent movie! Great storytelling technique that fits the storyline perfectly.
A twist ending that I did not see coming. Highly recommended.
